AKMU Lee Suhyun Reveals the Reason She Wanted to Retire While Lee Chanhyuk Was in the Military

AKMU Lee Suhyun Felt Pressured While Lee Chanhyuk Enlisted in the Military
Recently, brother and sister duo AKMU, also known as Akdong Musician, made a guest appearance on the December 8 broadcast of tvN's popular variety show, "You Quiz on the Block," which is hosted by the "Running Man" star Yoo Jae Suk and comedian Jo Se Ho.
During their guest appearance, Lee Suhyun opened up about the difficulties she faced back when Lee Chanhyuk was serving his mandatory military service, to the point she even thought of retiring from the music industry, and explains the reason for this.
According to Lee Suhyun, when her brother Lee Chanhyuk went to the military to serve his mandatory duty, she felt really pressured, especially as she had to step up and do what her brother would usually do for them.
"We we used to go to meetings, everyone would always look at my brother for the briefing. I had no idea that all the eyes would look at me when he wasn't there," Lee Suhyun said.
She continued to explain, saying, "I really felt the heavy weight on my shoulders at that time. I felt super pressured. I didn't know my brother had to go through all of that before I had to experience it myself."

The "NAKKA" singer then revealed that she had actually sent an e-mail to Lee Chanhyuk to thank him for what he did for them until then.
"I had thanked him for everything, and also apologized for not knowing of all of the things that he had been doing for us," Lee Suhyun said.
Lee Suhyun also confessed that she felt like her brother was the only songwriter who knew what sort of songs would suit her well, which made her have great respect for him.

Following that, Lee Suhyun talked about retirement. Earlier in the year, Lee Suhyun had mentioned in another broadcast that she had wanted to retire from the music industry, and that IU was the one who helped her overcome those thoughts.

"I believe I was completely immature back then. I think I was acting like a thoughtless little girl. When my brother was away in the military, I just kept questioning myself. I was like, 'What is the real me?,' 'Was there anything that I began doing simply because I like doing them?' and so on," Lee Suhyun said.
According to Lee Suhyun in the past, she had entered a slump period and hasn't been wanting to do anything for the past year as nothing appealed to her anymore, especially when it came to working, nor did she do anything she wanted.
