CL Opens Up About How She Found Out 2NE1's Disbandment Through News Reports
Recently on December 15 local time, media outlet AP Entertainment shared a video featuring former 2NE1 leader and now solo artist, CL, from when they interviewed the "ALPHA" singer.
In this video, CL opens up about how she found out about 2NE1's disbandment through news reports.
An interviewer from AP Entertainment had shared with CL that a colleague of hers had interviewed fellow former 2NE1 member, Minzy, a long time ago.
During that interview, Minzy had revealed that she found out about the group's disbandment through reports by the media. The interviewer then wanted to know how CL found out about the disbandment.
Hearing the question, CL awkwardly laughed and revealed that she also found out the same way. "Well... I did too, to be honest," CL said.
She confirmed that she found out about 2NE1's disbandment after it was reported by the media, and emotionally recalls the time of how she came to know about it during a dinner event. "I was at a Thanksgiving dinner and my phone blew up. But yeah, those situations...," CL began.

Trying to find the right words, she continued, "But now, you know... That was very heartbreaking for me."
Despite the heartbreak she felt with her group disbanding, CL tried to find the positive side to it, saying that she has more freedom and control with her own music.
"But like I said, now I have a lot of freedom and control over at least what I choose to do. So, it's a very exciting chapter for me," CL said while smiling.
Back in 2015, 2NE1 went into a hiatus following Park Bom's drug investigation, during which members CL, Minzy, and Dara began pursuing and establishing their own solo careers and activities.

After media speculation of the group's status, 2NE1 eventually surprised fans with their return through a surprise performance at the 2015 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) with all four members.
Unfortunately, after seven years together, 2NE1 officially disbanded in November 2016. However, through the years, the former 2NE1 members had teased fans about the possibility of releasing new music together at some point in the future.

CL's Latest Release
In other news, CL released her debut studio album "ALPHA" back in October. The album features a total of 11 tracks, many of which had been released prior to the album's release.
The album contains songs "Spicy," "Lover Like Me," "Chuck," "Xai," "Let It," "Tie a Cherry," "Paradise," "My Way," "Siren," "Hwa," and "5 Star."
