SHINee Gives Fans an Update on Taemin's Current Life While Serving in Military

Recently on May 25, SHINee celebrated their 14th debut anniversary. In honor of of their 14 years of being active in the industry, members Minho, Onew, and Key held a special live broadcast on Youtube to celebrate the day with their fans, Shawols.

During the live broadcast, the three members of SHINee kept receiving questions regarding Taemin, such as "How is Taemin doing?," who is currently on hiatus for his mandatory military service.

To this, the members decided to give fans an update about Taemin's life, and revealed that he had actually gained a lot of weight that made him "cute."

"He is doing very well, guys. You know what? He has gained so much weight. He has become super cute," Minho said.

Minho added that because of Taemin's weight gain, it reminded him of when Taemin still looked like a baby back when he was in middle school.

"When I look at him, it felt like I was looking at Taemin [when he was] in middle school, the time when he was a baby. He looks that baby-ish these days," Minho said.

Key also spoke up, saying it makes him feel happy to see Taemin again. "Everybody needs that sort of time in their life when they just let loose and do whatever they want. I believe that this is that time for him right now. It makes me feel happy seeing him," Key expressed.

With the members feeling happy seeing Taemin and how he looks now, the members expressed their hope for the youngest SHINee member to make a comeback with the same appearance he has now.

Minho said while laughing, "I actually told Taemin, 'You should make a debut like this without losing a single bit [of weight] from now on, not a comeback. You look too cute!'"

Key then scolded Minho, saying, "Hey! He is like the heaviest in his life right now. How could you say that to him? You are only think about yourself!" causing laughter among the members.

Onew then told fans that Taemin really misses Shawols, and is always talking about them whenever he talks to the members.

He said, "Taemin also really misses you guys. He is always talking about you guys. He even rents a dance studio whenever he has the time to practice some dance moves. How cute is he, right?!"

Onew expressed his thoughts on Taemin practicing his dancing whenever he has the time off, saying, "I think that is all because he wants to slowly prepare himself for his return to the industry. I am sure he would be able to sit with us here next year."

Meanhile, Taemin enlisted for his mandatory military service in May 2021. However, due to his worsening depression and anxiety order, he began serving as a social service worker instead beginning January of this year.
