Kep1er Shen Xiaoting Draws Criticism for Competing in ISAC 2022's Dance Sport Event
This year, the Idol Star Athletics Championship (ISAC) had introduced a new event, dance sport, which is formerly known as competitive ballroom dancing. For this event, select male and female idols partnered up with professional dancers to take on the challenge of competitive dancing.
In particular, Kep1er member Shen Xiaoting drew attention as she was one of the female idols who competed in the said event. Following her performance for dance sport, several of her fancam videos went viral on social media, where she garnered a lot of praise for her immense talent and amazing performance.
In fact, her impressive performance earned her first place for dance sport after accumulating 29.2 points from the judges. She competed against Billlie Tsuki, who landed second place with 25.9 points; former IZ*ONE Kwon Eunbi at third place with 25.1 points; and finally NMIXX Sullyoon who received 22.8 points.

After her dance sport performance went viral on social media, Shen Xiaoting was heavily praised by netizens and fans. However, when her past career came to light, some have expressed mixed reactions to Shen Xiaoting's participation in the event.
Prior to competing on the Mnet survival program "Girls Planet 999," Shen Xiaoting had been professionally doing dance sport for over nine years. She had participated in numerous national and international-level competitions, where she bagged more than 50 cumulative awards during her time competitively dancing.

Not only that, but she was also ranked No. 6 globally in a British competition. She also graduated from Sichuan Conservatory of Music University's Department of Performance, and has a background in ballet, contemporary dance, and cheerleading.
After netizens found out about her past career, many found that her participation in the ISAC event may have been unfair to the other idols competing in the event, given that they don't have prior experience to dance sport like Shen Xiaoting.
