'Irene's Work & Holiday' Garners Mixed Reactions After Series Premiere
Back on August 4, Red Velvet member Irene's new reality program "Irene's Work & Holiday" broadcasted its first episode through the streaming platform Seezn.
In the first episode of Irene's first-ever reality program, cameras followed around the Red Velvet member through her daily schedule. In particular, the episode showed Irene getting her hair and makeup done at a salon.

While nothing seemed to be out of the ordinary, many focused in on Irene chatting with the staff members while getting her hair styled. She was also seen continuing to talk to staff members while getting her makeup done, even asking her makeup artists if they already ate their breakfast.
The first episode continued to show Irene's cool and down-to-earth style with her staff members.

However, following the airing of the first episode, discussion among netizens regarding the authenticity of Irene's actions on the show were sparked on online community forums.
Many have pointed out that Irene's agency SM Entertainment is trying to fix the "Feel My Rhythm" singer's image, which has since then been negatively affected following her attitude controversy back in 2020.

"They are trying to clean up her image."
"I can see that they are trying to hard to change Irene's image."
"It is so funny because the intention of the show is really obvious."

Red Velvet Irene Embroiled in Power Abuse Controversy
Back in 2020, Irene became involved in power abuse claims after a fashion editor who worked with the idol revealed in a now-deleted Instagram post that Irene had mistreated and lashed out at the staff members.
Irene and SM Entertainment later apologized for the issue, with Irene also admitting to her wrongdoings and having exchanged "sincere apologies" to the fashion editor.

More recently, Irene was entangled in a second wave of power abuse claims, after she was spotted at the airport in Bali, Indonesia with her staff members. However, the photo shows a staff member pushing their luggages, while Irene only had a shoulder bag.

Due to these, Irene has been subjected to criticism with how she treats others since then.
