NewJeans's "Ditto" teaser video has left fans wondering if the rookie girl group has a sixth member after seeing six people in it instead of five.

NewJeans Has Sixth Member? Group's 'Ditto' Teaser Raises Curiosity for Featuring 6 People

On Nov. 10, ADOR announced that NewJeans will make their first comeback on Jan. 2 next year with a single album called "OMG." Prior to that, they will drop a pre-release single titled "Ditto" this month.

On Dec. 14, a 21-second teaser video for NewJeans' "Ditto" was uploaded to HYBE Labels' official YouTube channel. The clip starts with the five members - Danielle, Hanni, Haerin, Minji, and Hyein - entering an empty school hallway as they run cheerfully through the school.

But, the surprising part is that even though only five members are seen entering the building, the next scene shows six people running past the camera.

The title of the teaser video, "New Jeans 6," later trended on Twitter as Bunnies (NewJeans' fan club) began to wonder who the sixth person was. This led to some fans thinking that she could be a sixth member of the group.

However, the speculation was quickly debunked when ADOR's CEO, Min Hee Jin, revealed that a special guest will make a cameo appearance in NewJeans' "Ditto" music video.

Through media outlets, like NEWSIS, Min Hee Jin revealed, "The music video for the pre-release song 'Ditto,' which will be released on the 19th, contains an unexpected story of Bunnies and NewJeans."

She added, "A surprise cameo appearance in the direction of the Dolphiners Films and a fresh collaboration with Black Skirt and Woohyo will be added to present a new charm."

An official from ADOR said that NewJeans is the first musical group that the Dolphiners Films have produced for, which is unusual as they are a film and advertisement company.

While Min Hee Jin's statement answered why there were six people in NewJeans' "Ditto" teaser video, there's still one question left... Who will make a special cameo?

Meanwhile, it was reported that member Minji participated in writing the lyrics for "Ditto." Whereas, Hanni wrote lyrics for the title song "OMG."

NewJeans' "Ditto" is due out on Dec. 19 on music streaming platforms, and the music video for it will also drop on the same day.

NewJeans Becomes Fastest K-pop Girl Group to Earn Daesang After Winning at 2022 AAA

In other news, NewJeans attended the 2022 Asia Artist Awards (AAA), where they won their first-ever Daesang (Grand Prize) since their debut. The rookie group won Performance of the Year with their debut song "Attention."

With this achievement NewJeans became the fastest K-pop girl group to take home a Daesang in just 134 days. This record was previously held by miss A, who took 151 days to win a grand prize after their debut.

Aside from Performance of the Year, NewJeans also won one of the Rookie of the Year awards at the 2022 AAA, along with IVE and LE SSERAFIM.
