ARMYs Demand HYBE Cancel Screening of 'SUGA THE MOVIE' in Israel — Here's Why

ARMYs are demanding HYBE Labels cancel all screenings of BTS member Suga's movie in Israel.

In celebration of BTS's tenth anniversary, Suga's solo documentary "SUGA | Agust D TOUR 'D-DAY THE MOVIE" will be available in cinemas worldwide for a limited time. Several countries were included in the list, including the Philippines, Kazakhstan, Italy, Kenya, and more.

However, fans were immediately bewildered by the fact that the movie would be shown in Israel.

ARMYs Demand HYBE Cancel Screening of 'SUGA THE MOVIE' in Israel

On March 20, 2024, ARMYs took to X (formerly Twitter) to trend "CANCEL THE SCREENING IN ISRAEL," as well as other hashtags such as "#HYBEDivestFromZionism" and "#하이브는시오니스트를퇴출하라." Fans are currently slamming the agency for planning to release the movie in Israel.

That is because Israel has pursued mass genocide in the Gaza Strip as well as other parts of Palestine. The war has killed over 38,000 people and left over two million Palestinians displaced. As a result of the ongoing genocide, people have decided to boycott brands and agencies that have shown support for Israel or have remained neutral on the matter.

With this in mind, people are demanding that the screening not be shown in Israel to show solidarity for those struggling in Palestine. People noted that HYBE choosing to have the move shown in cinemas in Palestine goes against the BDS Movement and contributes to art washing. The BDS Movement is a Palestinian-led movement for freedom, justice, and equality.

Several ARMYs have stated that if HYBE chooses to pursue the release of the movie in Israel, they will boycott against HYBE's choice to stand with ethnic cleansing and genocide by not watching the movie.

As of writing, HYBE Labels has not released a statement on the matter.

HYBE Labels Artists Under Fire For Showing Boycotted Brands to the Public

However, this is not the first time HYBE or their artists have been mentioned in relation to the Israel-Palestine conflict. As mentioned, several brands are being boycotted for funding the war, showing support for Israel, or remaining neutral on the matter. Some of the biggest brands being boycotted are Starbucks and Coca-Cola.

Previously, ENHYPEN member Jake earned the ire of ENGENEs after he was seen drinking coffee from a Starbucks cup during a live stream. Fans quickly ran to Weverse to call Jake out on his behavior. The idol replied to a fan's post, acknowledging and apologizing for his mistake, thanking them for educating him, and promising it would not happen again.

Most recently, LE SSERAFIM's Huh Yunjin also faced criticism after she was seen drinking coffee from Starbucks while entering the venue of IU's concert. Despite the massive backlash, the idol did not release a statement on the matter.
