This idol drew laughter after being called out by SM for not going out during her free time, and for only staying either in her house or the company for about five years.

However, the real reason saddened fans.

On March 25, Red Velvet Wendy appeared on Urban Zakapa Hyun Ah's YouTube talk show, "Jo Hyun Ah's Thursday Night," as a guest.

On this day, the idol promoted her second mini-album, "Wish You Hell," released on the 12th. During the broadcast, Wendy also revealed various anecdotes about herself for the first time.

During the conversation, Red Velvet Wendy confessed that she hasn't been meeting a lot of people for 5 years after her debut. She added that for a long time, what she does is go back and forth between her home and company.

It was too severe to the point that even SM Entertainment staff urged her to go out a little, asking her to have fun as well during her free time.

Wendy said:

“For five years after debut, I only went back and forth between home and work. So, 5 years later, the company said, 'You should go out of (your house).' They told me to get out of the zone.

When I heard that, I was like, 'I like staying at home or company...'

While Wendy is known for her introverted and timid personality that made her a total homebody, netizens expressed their sadness when the idol explained that there is another reason she maintains this lifestyle.

The star stated:

"I tried to be very careful of my actions because I'm worried it could cause harm to my group."

As a result of rarely going outside, Wendy revealed that she only had 1 close friend, then stated that she considered herself as her closest friend.

"Me? I think I am my closest friend. I'm a total homebody so I don't leave my house often.

But my goal this 2024 is to meet people."

She mentioned the advice that she got from her only close friend.

"My only friend is a Pilates teacher and she gave me some advice. Since my first number of age is changing, her personality is very similar to mine and she told me, 'After I’m in my 20s, I regret not meeting many people.' So she recommended me to meet other people and make new friends. So I changed my goal this year.”

Delving deeper into her timid personality, Wendy also talked about being misunderstood for being always kind and nice.

"I have a little bit of that as well. Lately, I've been saying what I want to say little by little, but there are times that it still bothers me even after I say it. I think this will be solved as it takes some time, but it's too hard. My energy gets drained after I speak out."
